About Waxhaw, NC

Waxhaw, North Carolina is located just south of Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s an easy fifteen minute drive from the Ballantyne area in Charlotte. Waxhaw has grown tremendously over the past decade, making it a very livable town. Many new businesses have opened up in the past couple of years.

Waxhaw is home to many festivals and events including the Art Kaleidoscope Festival in May of each year. The Queen’s Cup Steeplechase is in late April. For Fourth of July, there is a parade, beach party and fireworks. Fall brings the Autumn Treasures Festival in October. The Christmas season has a lot to offer with the Holiday Festival of Lights and the Waxhaw Christmas Parade.

Waxhaw has many restaurants and shops to choose from that the entire family will enjoy. Waxhaw also boasts a Harris Teeter, Food Lion, neighborhood WalMart, and Lowe’s Home Improvement. Our restaurants range from fast food to fine dining. There are a few taverns in historic downtown Waxhaw which host bands and activities in the evenings.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Carolina Thread Trail runs through Waxhaw and can be easily accessed at Town Creek Park or at the back of Harvey Clay Nesbit Park. In downtown Waxhaw there is a great children’s park and also a skate park.
